Elizabeth C. White collected American Holly varieties throughout New Jersey and from other states along the Atlantic Coast. She grew American Holly at Whitesbog for fifty years to sell to gardners through the Conservation Nursery based at Whitesbog. Five years before her death at 83, she established Holly Haven a nursery that specialized in selling Holly propagated from varieties she selected from the wild.
