Young Women picking Cranberries in the 30s

In October of 1938 Arthur Rothstein (Click Here)was the photographer who took the pictures in this collection. These photographs are from the Farm Security Administration - Office of War Information Photograph Collection which form an extensive pictorial record of American life between 1935 and 1944. The Library of Congress makes these photographs available to the public and has files pf various sizes usually available for each picture.

Workers pick cranberries in the Fenwick Bog

Whitesbog Village can viewed in the background.
Cranberry pickers in bog. Three-fourths of these workers are children. Most of the pickers are Italian families from So. Philadelphia. The head of the family is the only one who gets paid. Burlington County, New Jersey
